Or just the oldest?
Today, the nearest library branch hosted Potterstock – a Wizard Rock concert featuring three Harry Potter inspired bands, the Moaning Myrtles, the Whomping Willows, and Justin Finch-Fletchley.
Now, the sad thing is that I used to have Wizard Rock music on my mp3 player, and, seriously, I’m in my…okay, I’m over 50!
When the Boy and I arrived, the median age of the other people in the room was somewhere near 13 years old! There were some older people there, but I wonder if these were just senior citizens who hang out at the library because it’s hot in Louisiana and air conditioned in the library. (So much so that the Boy and I were shivering.)
Anyway, as I listened to these bands (basically 4 people that make up 3 bands) sing some songs I was familiar with and some I wasn’t, I thought about my choice of music. At this very moment, I’m listening to a Serenity/Firefly inspired radio station on Live365.com (Can’t take the Sky, if you’re interested. And if you are, please tell me – I’m feeling a little lonely out here in the black.)
My daughter has told me I’m the biggest geek in the world because of my listening preferences, that I go a little fangirlish over The Bedlam Bards when they appear at Babelcon, a local scifi/fantasy con, and walk around the house singing obscure Firefly music.
Today kinda reinforced that for me.
I bought a Moaning Myrtles CD. I think I am truly a geek, and you know what? I’m okay with that.
